Sterling Academy of Gymnastics and Dance

UNAA Area Qualifier, March 2-3, 2024

Sterling Gym is a proud member of the USA Ninja Challenge organization, which provides progressive obstacle training, certification programs and sanctioned competitions for kids. The program is designed to meet the requirements of a full physical fitness program for today's youth. We incorporate standard gymnastics apparatus including rings, bars, balance beams and tumbling surfaces. Other specialized ninja training equipment is also used such as cargo nets, traverse walls, slack lines, ropes, pegboards and ladders. Each portion of every obstacle course also includes corresponding conditioning and flexibility development stations. The desired result of this program is to improve children's strength, self-confidence and all-around athleticism.

Pricing: $28 per class / $112 for a 4-week month - note that prices vary with 3 or 5 week months

Obstacles

There are six basic categories of ninja obstacles. These categories were developed to incorporate all of the basic movements and use all of the muscle groups of the human body.

JUMPING

Jumping includes box jumps, long jump, jumping over or onto obstacles, jumping from platform to platform and even from platforms to ropes and cargo nets!

CLIMBING

Ninjas get to climb ropes, cargo nets, pegboards and rock walls!

SWINGING

Swing sets have become a bit boring, so we've upped the game to swinging on gymnastics rings, ropes, hanging ladders, hanging nunchucks and parallel bars!

TRAVERSING

There are a lot of things to traverse across in a gym: cargo nets, spotting blocks, rock walls, pegboards, and ledges to name a few!

BALANCING

The ninja programs work on balancing. These training activities include balance beams, slack lines and rolling barrels!

FLOOR SKILLS

This category includes running, block pushing, army crawl and vaulting. In addition to these floor skills, Ninjas also learn basic gymnastics tumbling skills.

Levels Program

A skill level progression system has been devised to challenge children of different abilities and create mobility by providing step-by-step successes. In each level, students advance based on progression of skills in the six categories of Ninja Obstacle. Our curriculum focuses on improving and mastering specific skills, strength, speed, and agility as well as the students' listening skills. In addition, classes are designed to continually develop discipline, coordination and flexibility.

Sterling Gym offers classes by age and level.

Nano Ninja classes are available for 3-5 year olds with a guardian. These classes introduce obstacles created for smaller hands, and encourage the guardians to actively work with each athlete to help them build confidence and swing to new heights!

Jr. Ninjas are classes for kids 5-6 years of age and build upon the obstacles introduced in the Nano Ninja classes. These classes do not require any previous experience and are a great way to get your little athlete swinging, climbing, exploring, and having MORE FUN in our awesome ninja obstacle courses!

Athletes who are 7+ years of age are introduced to more intermediate obstacles that are popular among ninjas across the world. There are 4 levels of ninja challenge for these athletes based on age and ability. More advanced ninjas may be invited to our competitive team program, where ninjas compete against other ninjas from across the Northeast.
